An error or fault in a machine or program; a mistake in a computer program that causes it to work incorrectly.

Etymology:
The most common meaning of 'bug' is 'a small insect'. As slang, the word refers to a small thing that causes trouble. 'Bug' was used this way in reference to machines by the 1870's, and is now commonly used in reference to computer software.
