Fact of the Day: Rembrandt
Rembrandt's full name was Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn. The Dutch painter's works included luxuriant brushwork, rich color, and a mastery of chiaroscuro and were mainly portraits, self-portraits, and biblical subjects, which were atypical of Dutch pictures of the 17th century. He was also renowned for his etchings.
